Tips To Make Your Office Greener For 2009

 
  • Printing
    Avoid colour printing, as it tends to use more ink. To conserve ink, it is best to print in black and white in draft mode. Print double sided where possible to save paper and you can even reuse the back of paper printed on only one side. Instead of printing out large documents such as manuals make them available electronically.
  • Buy paper wisely
    Implement a policy to buy only chlorine-free paper with a high percentage of recycled content.
  • Tissue paper
    Napkins, serviettes, toilet paper and bathroom and kitchen handtowels can make up as much as a third of the volume of office waste. Reusable and laundered roll towels can be cheaper than paper towels and make for less waste in your bathrooms.
  • Shred and reuse unwanted paper
    Instead of throwing away old documents, they can be shredded and reused as packing materials in shipments.
  • Recycling
    Put in place a recycling system for your office. Have separate bins for recycling paper, plastic, glass and aluminium containers. Supply a recycle bin near the printer or at individual workstations to encourage people to recycle their unwanted paper.
